Monroe County Public School Registration
Students new to Monroe County may register at any Monroe County School. Needed are the following: (1) Birth Certificate (2) Record of a health examination completed within year prior to school entry or evidence of health examination scheduled within 30 days. (3) Florida Certificate of Immunization (4) if possible Social Security Card for the student (5) Proof of Residence such as lease agreement, mortgage acceptance letter, electric bill, letter from landlord or similar proof of residency (5) Proof of custody if the student does not live with both natural parents.
Kindergarten - Children must be five on or before September 1, 2002.
First Grade - Children must be six years old on or before September 1, 2002 and have completed kindergarten. Children from private schools must demonstrate satisfactory performance on a standardized test. to enroll in first grade in a public school. Children not taking the test will be conditionally placed in first grade and take the standardized test in early September.
Monroe County Public Schools - Child Immunizations
Students must be Immunized and documentation submitted before they will be permitted to attend school. Provide documentation for: (1) Diphtheria/Pertussis/Tetanus (5 doses) (2) Polio (4 doses) (3) Measles/Mumps/Rubella (4) Hepatitis B (5) Varicella (Chicken Pox) (6) Hemophilus influenza type b For additional information, contact your school or the Health Department.
School staff can assist with records. Provide immunization records prior to the start of school. Students without documentation will not be provided a class schedule.
Secondary students - new or retained, must have a 2nd Measles/Mumps/Rubella , a Tetanus Booster dated after 8-21-96 and a Hepatitis B series.
Monroe County Public School Transportation
Transportation personnel may be reached at 305-293-1434. Bus schedules are published in The Key West Citizen, The Keynoter, and The Reporter newspapers.
Academic Camps, Summer School, and Dates
K-8 Summer Academic Camps - June 10 &endash; June 21, 2002- two weeks duration - students eligible for summer school will be those that score in the lower percentiles on standardized tests. Families will be notified.
9-12 Summer School - June 10 &endash; July 3, 2002
K-12 Summer Recreation - June 10 &endash; July 3, 2002 - four weeks
ESE Extended School Year - June 10 &endash; July 3, 2002 - four weeks
